Autism Appeal

Quoting Shoulders. An informal parents group.

This petition reflects the deep and persistent fear of parents of autistic children about who will take care of their children when they are gone. Unlike other first world countries where the govt gives extensive support for parents of disabled children, the Singapore govt leaves much of work to charities with limited resources. Much of the financial burden are borne by the parents who are usually the primary caregivers - very often one of the parents stop working to look after the child. For lower middle income families, having a child with special needs leads to a financial burden that results in the parents pushing back retirement or being unable to retire.

The parents are asking for more govt support to create work opportunities for their autistic children when they grow up and significantly improve the care for autistic adults who are unable to work.

Wow. I nv set sight on my actual blog page for long time. Here I am. Using T's VPN access. Maybe, I really should apply for one? Anyway, she made a good point. Your Parents...

Watched a show. Lady talked about supporting 4 old dependents. Parents. Plus Fosters. Host said if the burden is heavy. She said: not at all. I am lucky that I have the chance to take care of them. I happy to do it... I must said, my parents. I don't think they read "bibles" on good upbringing (like S does..) But they raised a happy kid. They didn't expect me to be the most successful kid around. But def hope for me to be happy. I love you! To all out there. Show your love. Say .." I love you" aloud!!!
